About Cooking the Classics

Cooking the Classics brings together recipes, wine pairings, and guides rooted in traditional cooking, with a focus on Italian recipes and the ingredients that shape them.

I started the site as a way to cook through classic cookbooks and better understand the techniques behind them. Over time, it became a place to document what holds up, what is worth repeating, and how a small group of ingredients can be used in different ways.

Each recipe includes a wine pairing designed to feel natural and approachable, so it’s easier to choose a wine that works with what you’re cooking.

From the Kitchen

I’m Stephanie, and I started Cooking the Classics as a way to cook through traditional recipes and better understand how they work.

Much of what I make is inspired by authors like Marcella Hazan, where the focus is on how ingredients behave and how dishes come together over time.

Everything here is cooked and tested in my own kitchen, with an emphasis on what works and what is worth returning to.

If you’d like to follow along, the newsletter shares a weekly recipe and wine pairing, along with the Italian Wine Pairing Guide to keep on hand while cooking or shopping.
